Common questions
How do I pair my Guardian with STOKER?
Press the button on the Guardian once to wake it. Open STOKER, allow Bluetooth and location when your phone asks, and pick your Guardian from the list.
STOKER can't find my Guardian.
Make sure Bluetooth and location are on for STOKER in your phone's settings, press the Guardian's button once to wake it, and keep the phone close. If it still won't show, forget the device in STOKER and pair again, or restart the phone.
The Guardian links, then drops (green light, then red).
Restart your phone, then pair again. Turning Bluetooth off and on is not enough. A full restart clears a stuck Bluetooth link on the phone.
Why does STOKER ask for my location?
For the speedometer, trip meter, lap timer and ride logs, and because phones require it to find Bluetooth devices. It is only used while the app is open, and your rides stay on your phone. See the privacy policy.
How do I delete my data?
Press and hold a ride in Chart Room to delete it, or forget a device in its settings. Uninstalling STOKER deletes everything it stored. There is no account to delete.
Will the Guardian fit my engine?
Guardian works on any magneto-fired small engine with a kill-to-ground coil: the single-wire kill. Not sure? With the engine idling, touch the coil's kill wire to ground. If the engine dies, Guardian fits.
Installing on a V-twin?
Many Briggs V-twins join both coils' kill wires through small diodes in the engine harness. Check those diodes before you install the Guardian.
When does my pre-order ship?
The first batch ships by December 14, 2026. If we miss that date, you can cancel for a full refund.
How much is shipping?
Shipping in the US is free, by USPS. We do not offer express shipping.
Returns and refunds
You can cancel a pre-order for a full refund any time before it ships, and you have 30 days after delivery to return your Guardian. You pay the return shipping. Email us to start a return. Full details: refund policy and shipping policy.
Warranty
One-year warranty. If your Guardian fails from a defect in parts or workmanship within one year of delivery, we repair or replace it. You pay the shipping to send it back. Email thomas@steamerpower.com to start a claim.
Installing the Guardian
- 1Mount it with screws through both ears into the frame (screws not included). Never zip ties.
- 2Splice the red wire into the coil's factory kill wire.
- 3Run the black wire to the engine block.
- 4Run the blue wire through your two-step switch to block ground.
- 5Plug it in.
- 6Press the button once to wake it, then pair it in the STOKER app.
